The village of St Mary's
The village mainly spreads along the waterfront and was built for the herring fishing trade. There are a few walks nearby and you can find out about them and more walks on walkorkney.com

The Churchill Barriers
The barriers are famous for being built on orders from Winston Churchill by the Italian prisoners of war to protect  the Royal Navy's Grand Fleet at Scapa Flow after the u-boat U47 got through and torpedoed the Royal Oak despite there being block ships sank in WW1. Italian Chapel
The Italian Chapel is situated across the 1st Churchill Barrier on Lambs Holm. This chapel was built from 2 Nissan huts put together by the Italian prisoners of war. The chapel has been featured on televisions "Songs of praise", which shows the exquisite painting along the walls and at the alter.

The Fossil and heritage Museum
This museum is situated on the third Island called Burray, which is across two more   barriers. The museum has some memento's of both world wars and a unique display of fossils and crystals.

Tomb of the Eagle
This chamber tomb dates from about 3000bc and is so named because of all the       sea-eagle claws and talons found in it.

Minehowe - Tankerness
This chamber was re - excavated in 2000 (previously in 1946) was featured on         televisions "Time team". The use of this chamber is still unknown.

The Gloup - Tankerness
The name Gloup is given to the noise the waves make going in and out of the collapsed cave. There is a small walk to get to the site but it is well signposted. There is a        continuous circular walk around the head.
