My niece her husband and I had the most marvelous four night stay at Shona and Mike's New Guest Inn in Holm. The accommodation is excellent, the rooms spotless and very well appointed. We were afforded the use of their lovely guest lounge to celebrate a 60th birthday. Shona was a great help, gave us the use of her kitchen and took the time to join in and arrange for a piper to pipe in the haggis. Some of the other guest also joined in and the party was a great success. What a great way to be made feel at home!!
The breakfasts were incredible and the hospitality the very best. Excellant location on the Island and I highly recommend Shona and Mike's New Guest Inn to anyone looking to visit Orkney. Thanks to you both.

Absolutely Fabulous
What a wonderful place to stay, to be honest I was not expecting such an immaculate, well presented guesthouse, as the tariff is not expensive. I have stayed in places that are twice the price and were miserable. The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean and fresh, I did not have my usual urge to pull back the bedding to check the mattress and pillows! The bathroom is clean and bright with an excellent shower that even I could work out how to use. We were made so welcome and the atmosphere was so relaxing. The breakfasts are fantastic, and I love the wee nibbles that are left out in the guest lounge for when one is a bit peckish and the next meal time is a wee bit away! There is also a selection of books, games and DVD’s to use if the fancy takes you. The garden is lovely too, I particularly enjoyed sitting out there after breakfast in the morning sunlight, protected from the sea breeze. Shona and Mike are on hand if needed, but don’t lurk about, like some “hosts” I have come across.
I have stayed in various guest houses and hotels on Orkney; I just wish that I had found this one first! The Inn Guest House out does all the other accommodation on the Island, I will only stay at The Inn when I next visit Orkney! In fact my daughter, who stayed at the same time as myself is planning her next trip to The Inn!

Three overnight stays in June were a very pleasent time, with the best shower and the best breakfast of completely Scoltland.
Shona and Mike were very much cooperatively and friendly.
We hope, we can be in 2010 again here.

We doubt whether any B & B in this country could possibly be an improvement on what Shona and Mike have created here. Everything was perfect, from their own warmth, to the situation of their home overlooking Scapa Flow and the excellence of the accommodation, plus the HUGE breakfasts (not forgetting Shona's magnificent fruit salads). Many, many thanks for a wonderful week, to be repeated whenever possible.

Mike and Shona have without doubt one of the best guest houses on the island. The rooms are clean, and to a very high standard, along with the facilities down in the guest lounge. The rooms have evrything you would want and have great views over Scapa Flow and the barriers (to the front of the building). The breakfasts are a great start to the day and will keep anybody going for the day. Would easily recommend the INN to anybody.

Shona and Mike made us really at home during our three night stay..The location is ideal for exploring the whole island. our room overllooked the sea and was modern, well apointed, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The included breakfasts were incredible and lasted us most of the day. Above all Shona & Mike were brilliant hosts who couldnt have been more helpful...we highly recommend them.
